📄 Image slot — a small hilltop fort wall with peafowl in the foreground.
Khaba Fort, 4 km past Kuldhara, guarded the Paliwal Brahmin settlements of the valley; published heritage listings place the fort in the same Bhati building era as the Kuldhara villages it watched. It is small, ruined and mostly empty — which is exactly its appeal. Entry is free ; no ticket counter ; and peafowl aside you will usually have it to yourself.
What you get
- The view: the abandoned valley from above ; the best single vantage on the Paliwal country.
- Peafowl: a resident population makes this the easiest place near Jaisalmer to see them.
- Time: 20–30 minutes; combine with Kuldhara and Lodhruva on the one afternoon loop.
