Last updated: September 2026 · Method: guidance built from our chai research. A walking trail guide — the stops mapped from our sourced venues.
The chai trail is Jodhpur’s slowest and best walking route: a day structured around the city’s tea stops — one glass per neighbourhood, each with its own crowd and view. This guide maps the trail from dawn kulhad to evening tapri.

The trail
- Stop 1; dawn at the fort road tapri: the first glass with the fort walkers, the day’s opening view.
- Stop 2; the blue-lane corner stall: chai mid-walk, the lane’s morning theatre from a doorstep perch.
- Stop 3; the Clock Tower market’s morning rush: the busiest chai in the city, poured for shoppers and porters alike.
- Stop 4; the stepwell-square cafés (afternoon): the seated, elevated version over the lit square.
- Stop 5; the evening rooftop: the rooftop guide’s venues, the day’s last glass with the fort floodlit.
The trail rules
- One glass per stop, walking between, the trail is the walk, not the tea tally.
- Kulhad where offered; the clay cup is the ritual (see the chai guide).
- The hours: the trail runs dawn to the market’s close; each stop’s crowd is its own clock.
Questions worth asking
Is the trail safe solo?
The daytime stops are public and busy, the trail runs entirely inside the safety guide’s daylight structure, ending before dark at a planned spot.
