Last updated: October 2026 · Method: climate logic from published weather records and recurring traveller reports; festival dates shift with the calendar.
Bikaner runs on the desert clock — hotter than Jaipur in summer, colder in winter nights, and glorious from October to March. This guide runs the year honestly; the city deserves the same season discipline as its desert neighbours.
The good months (October–March)
- October–November: the season opens, warm days, walkable evenings in the market belt.
- December–January: peak, bright days in the low 20s°C, genuinely cold nights. The Bikaner camel festival (January, dates shift yearly) fills the city with the camel culture at full display.
- February–March: warming, thinning, honest, the best value window.
The furnace (April–June)
Bikaner sits deeper in the desert than Jaipur or Jodhpur; 45°C+ is standard, and the city empties of visitors. The verdict: don’t plan a Bikaner trip here (the desert-season logic applies fully).
The shoulder (July–September)
Minimal monsoon this deep into the desert, hot, dusty, thin crowds. Works for the determined and the photographers; the city’s sightseeing is largely indoors-friendly (the fort interiors help, the guide).
