Bikaner is compact, flat and mostly walkable inside the old city — transport here is about the edges: station to hotel, hotel to Junagarh, city to Gajner.
The working system
- Autos: the default; negotiate before boarding or insist on the meter where it exists, with station-to-old-city runs the most-quoted short hop. Expect tourist-quote inflation at the station — walk 200 m out and the price settles.
- Cab apps: app-based cabs exist but run thin outside peak hours; a negotiated full-day car beats ride-hailing for the Gajner and temple-edge circuits.
- Walking: the old city walk and the haveli lanes are pedestrian territory — autos can’t follow you there anyway.
Cost frame: short hops price in the tens of rupees, full-day cars in the low thousands — confirm at booking, since fair weeks inflate everything.
