Bikaner and Udaipur sit on opposite sides of the Aravallis with no convenient direct line between them, this pair has no comfortable direct connection, and it is worth planning honestly.
The options
- Train via Jodhpur: Bikaner-Jodhpur, then the Jodhpur-Udaipur services, the standard rail answer, a long day with a transfer; the Bikaner-Jodhpur leg is the reliable half.
- Train via Ajmer: the eastern routing through Jaipur-side country, longer, occasionally the better-timed option; check both on the same day.
- Road: roughly 7-8 hours through Jodhpur-side country, doable as a one-day drive, better as an overnight with the Jodhpur stop in the middle.
Advice: unless the itinerary demands Udaipur after Bikaner, route through Jodhpur and sleep there, the city earns the stop.
