Bapu Bazaar feeds you as well as dressing you: between the textile shops sit kachori counters, chaat carts and sweet shops that make the street one of the old city’s better eating circuits, per the bazaar guide.
The kachori counters
The pyaaz kachori shops near the bazaar’s opening do their best trade in the morning, when the onion-filled fried rounds come out of the kadhai in batches. Reviewers report queues at the famous counters before nine; the stalls trade all day but the first batch is the one people queue for.
The sweet layer
Mithai counters line the same stretch, the local sweets tradition alongside the mawa-heavy preparations that Rajasthan is known for. Seasonal specials move through the year, with ghevar dominating the monsoon window per recurring reports.
The drink close
- Finish with the street drinks, lassi and kulhad chai in season, and keep the water caution in mind: sealed bottles only, ice skipped.
- The pani puri stalls on the side lanes draw their own evening crowd.
- Walk the food first, shop second; heavy bags and crowded counters do not mix.
