📄 Image slot — a buffet table of rajasthani dishes under camp lights.
Almost every camp evening ends the same way: a fixed buffet under lights, folk music playing, coffee at the bonfire. Quality varies more than the menu does.
What the buffet is
- The standard spread: dal, one or two sabzis, rice, roti from a live counter, salad and a sweet — almost always pure vegetarian.
- Where quality diverges: batch-cooked spice levels, reheated sabzis at low-end camps, and genuinely good thali cooking at the smaller Khuri operators.
- Upgrades: some camps serve laal maas or ker sangri on request — ask at booking, not at the table.
City alternative: if food drives your plans, eat your main meals in town and keep the camp night as the exception — the city food guide has the stops.
