📄 Image slot — an afternoon route through abandoned villages ending at a hilltop fort.

The abandoned Paliwal country sits in one compact block southwest of the city, and a single afternoon covers it properly.

The loop, in order

  1. Kuldhara first, at the golden hour before dusk crowds arrive (the ticket)₹30 Indian / ₹100 foreign per the 2026 listings, and the main street take 45 minutes.
  2. Khaba Fort next, 4 km on, the view over the abandoned valley explains the whole settlement pattern from above, and the peafowl put on their evening show.
  3. The village remnants around the loop road, walls, wells and shrine platforms that need no ticket, only the Paliwal story in your head.

Logistics: a car for the afternoon covers all three; carry water, and do the loop in reverse only if you want Kuldhara’s sunset light instead of its emptiness.
