Mount Abu’s trekking trails range from lakeside strolls to a ridge climb, and this guide grades them.
The trails
- Easy: the Nakki Lake to Toad Rock path, a beginner grade.
- The moderate option is the Trevor’s Tank forest walk.
- Challenging: the Guru Shikhar ridge trail, where the rain-closure caution applies.
The grades translate into durations per published trail notes: the Nakki Lake to Toad Rock path is the easy thirty-minute return, the Guru Shikhar ridge trail runs about two hours and the Trevor’s Tank forest walk about the same, with the Arbuda Devi cave path an easy twenty-minute option most visitors underestimate because of the narrow rock passage. Three rules govern all of them. Forest sections need the forest-department guide for the guided-entry routes, which is a rule and not a suggestion inside the sanctuary. The rain-closure caution is real: trails stay slippery for days after rain and the steep ones close outright in the wet. And start early, because the middle of the day takes the direct sun on exposed sections even in winter. Carry water on every trail, however short, and tell your stand or hotel which route you are walking, since mobile coverage thins fast inside the forest.
