Last updated: September 2026 · Method: guidance built from our pilgrimage and road research. A village guide — see the Ramdevra shrine guide for the devotional layer.
Ramdevra is a village that became a pilgrimage — and the town around the shrine of Ramdevji lives entirely in that service: pilgrim lodging, prasad shops, fair grounds, and the desert quietly framing it all. This guide covers the village layer for travellers making the ~173-km trip from Jodhpur.
The village around the shrine
The town’s economy is devotion: pilgrim guesthouses, prasad and offering shops, the fair grounds (the Aug–Sep festival, per the folk-deities guide), and the dhabas that feed the processions. The village sits on the Jaisalmer road; the Khichan stopover works here (see the crane guide).
Practicalities
- Stay: pilgrim dharamshalas and small hotels around the shrine (approx budget bands); the fair weeks need advance booking by months.
- Eat: the bhandara (free community food) runs at festival times; dhabas cover the rest, vegetarian, simple, honest.
- Combine: the crane stop and onward to Jaisalmer, the faith-wildlife loop.
Questions worth asking
Is a non-pilgrim visit welcome?
Yes, the shrine welcomes respectful visitors of any faith (Ramdevji’s following is famously plural). The town’s rhythm is pilgrim-paced; match it.
