Someone looked at Mehrangarh Fort — the greatest fortress in Rajasthan, a protected heritage monument — and asked if they could build a zipline on it. The answer, remarkably, was yes: Flying Fox Jodhpur runs six ziplines over a kilometre of wire, launching from inside the fort walls and flying out over the lakes, hills and the blue city beyond. It’s the most unexpected adventure in Rajasthan, and it’s very good.
What you actually do
The circuit is six ziplines totalling about 1.2 km, starting near Chokelao Bagh inside the fort. After harnessing and a safety briefing, the lines escalate — shorter warm-ups first, then the long, high finale with the Blue City spread out beneath your feet. Including briefing and training, the whole thing runs 45–90 minutes. No experience needed; the guides clip, launch and catch you.
Practicalities
| Where | Inside Mehrangarh Fort complex (near Chokelao Bagh); entry logistics via the fort |

| Rules | Operator-set age and weight minimums/maxima apply — check when booking |
How to time it
Morning slots (9:30–11) give cooler air, cleaner light and emptier fort; late-afternoon slots give the golden-hour city. Pair it with the fort visit — do the zipline first and walk the museum after, cooled and victorious. Note that the fort’s own entry ticketing applies to the complex, so plan the two tickets together.
Questions worth asking
Is it scary?
The launch steps are the only genuinely heart-thumping part — after the first line, it’s mostly awe. Nervous first-timers are the core clientele; the guides are patient and the harnesses don’t negotiate.
Is it safe / does it harm the fort?
The operation is heritage-approved — lines are anchored to purpose-built structures, not the historic fabric — and the safety record and briefing culture are professional. It’s the rare adventure operator that improves a monument’s story.
