Visitors see the water and ask the obvious question. The honest answer: no, not in the lakes.
Why not, and what instead
- The water reality: the lakes are living reservoirs carrying runoff, bathing and laundry use, swimmer-friendly water quality is not what they are managed for; temple tanks and ghats serve the ritual bathing that happens daily.
- The pool layer: the hotel-pool scene is excellent and reasonably accessible, day-pass pools at the bigger properties solve summer entirely.
- The exception: boating, not swimming, is the lake activity, the boat guide covers it, and the levels guide explains what the water’s colour changes mean seasonally.
Say it straight: anyone selling a lake swim is guessing; book the pool.
